это снова про расизм. типа. на этот раз в фандоме Гамильтона.
хотя надо признать, это редкость, в этом фандоме пока что все такие же няшки, как и актеры)))
so. the thing about white fandom putting Hamilton lyrics over white characters is this:
Hamilton is explicitly about putting people of colour back in the narrative. Hamilton is made for and by people of colour. it centers people of colour, it gives us or own story.
and when white fans use Hamilton lyrics on white characters - you’re removing us from the narrative. you’re doing exactly what the US and Europe has been doing for centuries. you’re erasing us from our own stories. and not only that, but you profit from it.
i’m hesitant to call this cultural appropriation, as that is such a large and widespread phenomenon, but it almost feels like it. because on one hand, you have Hamilton, which in it’s context is about people of colour. and then you remove it from it’s cultural context and apply them in a way that makes people from that context (aka fans of colour) uncomfortable. and the key here is that you profit from it. you get notes and followers and messages and tags on how great this thing is.
you are profiting off something that was not made for you. profiting while the context is ignored and forgotten. profiting while Hamilton lyrics are applied to the same people that have been keeping us out of the narrative.
Ужас какой, мюзикл не про белых и не для белых, ай-яй-яй
Про что был пост: кто-то взял цитату из мюзикла и использовал их в гифсете с кем-то из Винчестеров.
